MALAWI – aka: ‘The Warm Heart of Africa’ – is a small, oft-overlooked country in Southern Africa. It is one of the poorest nations in the world but is unquestionably one of the friendliest and most beautiful.

THE TOWN OF BALAKA, a major crossroads between Malawi’s two major cities (Blantyre and Lilongwe), has been hard-hit by the HIV virus as well as malaria and tuberculosis. Malnutrition rates are high and school attendance and literacy rates, especially for girls and women, are extremely low.
